Hi Stephen White: I have read all your book with the exception of the most recent. I love them. I am a licensed PI, have been for 30 years, have cousins in Colorado Springs, Denver and one cousin attended college in Boulder. Campus is just beautiful., love the town, so can imagine where all your stories are located.

Of all the mystery writers I most enjoy your books. Have you ever thought of basing a book on Hawaii ? I was raised there--family going back to the 1800's.
The island of Molokai has much legend/mystery about it.

I have developed OCD concerning your books! I have read several in in no particular order. I would like very much to read them in order. Would I start in 1991 and work up or do they skip around? My daughter is a mental health therapist. Besides thoroughly enjoying the mystery aspects of your books, they provide insight about her profession. I am also one who likes to figure out what makes people "tick". Your comment in one of the boks about marriage being " a beautiful quilt made from scraps of love" made me stop and say "WOW". I plan to writ it up and frame it aling with my favorite quote from John Lennon, " Life is what happens while we are busy making other plans". Thanks for your books and yoour reply. Linda Gray

Big. big fan of Stephen White and always look forward to a new book. However, I was disappointed to find that the major characters, who have become so familar in the past, were not included. Sooooo disappointing ..... Please revieve them!

I am an avid reader. I read almost anything I can get my hands on in most genres. I started Higher Authority and was offended at how inaccurately and offensively the LDS characters were portrayed in your book. I am a Mormon and although I can admit that not all members of any church are perfect, every LDS character in your book was portrayed as a hypocrite or a weak personality.
I very seldom do not finish a book once I have started it and I have such a reverence for books that I would almost never consider destroying one. After about 40 or 50 pages into your book I was so incensed that I tore it up and threw it away like the garbage it was, retaining the back cover so I could send you this note.
Before using a group of people as characters in your books, you may want to consider doing some actual research so you know what you are writing about.
I will never read anything else you have written and will do my best to make sure that no one I know ever will either.

I will be honest but I don't know which was the first book of yours that I read. I just was amazed that one of your characters has MS because I was diagnosed with it at age 25. I just recently picked up Dead Time at the airport. There she is contemplating starting Tysabri. I am at that same point in my "struggle" with MS. Is there someone in your life that has MS that would make you include this disease in your novels?

Thanks for shining the light of reason and reality on a truly tragic event. Your article brought back my own thoughts and feelings as my daughter moved to Gainesville, Florida and the University of Florida the semester after multiple murders terrified not only Gainesville, but most of the Southeast as well.

After spending 20+ years in law enforcement even I forget that there are those times when everything, call it karma, fate, whatever, comes together with tragic results. Yet despite the potential for these kinds of events, we must continue to lead or lives normally, but carefully, and not let the crazies who abound in our society drive us into the dark corners of fear and despair.

I have read each of your books and always look forward to the next one. I just finished The Siege, which was the first book in a long time that I simply could not put down. I loved it, and found the characters of Poe and Dierdre very compelling. Do you have any intention of writing books in the future that may feature this couple? I would love to see you delve into their history, as well as their future, a bit more.

I have just finished reading Blinded, which I liked very much. I was wondering if you ever write another book where sex is a major issue that another version of it could be the subject. It seems like lately the only sexual arena being picked on is the D/s one. Often sex is dangerous. If you are a woman it is almost always dangerous. It doesn't take sex at all for an abuse of power to take place in a relationship. It isn't even necessarily the woman being abused. No matter what you like in a relationship you should always be with someone you trust. I think that too much focus on other lifestyles can give people the idea that as long as you stay in the lines of what society finds acceptable that you won't get hurt. I realize that you didn't sign up to be the spokesperson for safe relationships, I just thought maybe other activities in the sexual arena could get their chance in the spotlight. Thank you in advance for your time.

I just finished reading Dry Ice. Loved it as I have loved all your books I have read. I am curious what made you choose Thousand Oaks as the city for Alan's childhood city. As a life long resident of Thousand Oaks I'm a little sad about the depressing way you portrayed our city. But mostly just curious.

Questions about The Siege

I finished The Siege and have two lingering questions. First, what does ATL stand for? You are usually so good about decoding these abbreviations and acronyms, but I either missed it this time or it simply wasnt there. I taught at DU for 15 years, so I have some experience with academia, but I never ran across that one at DU. I even googled it and gave Yales website a quick search to no avail.

Second, why does Poe refer to Dees husband as G.B. Jerry? I kept waiting for an explanation for that one, and again, may have missed it.

I just read the comment about political views. I have been trying for years to get my students to understand that not all Americans ar like Bush.. the latest book is a great example for me to use - there is a different sort of Americans - the reflected ones - and there`s more of them than a lot of Europeans think - after a long period with a very foreign political retoric..

First of all, I'm a huge fan of your novels (never heard that before, right?) and look forward to each new one's release.
Just finished The Siege - brilliant - and I was wondering if you had plans for a direct sequel? The ending and some of the comments made by certain characters towards the end of the book made me think you had more in mind... I'll welcome back Dr. Gregory with open arms, but I'd hate to never see Poe and Dee again, and it appeared to me there was some unfinished business.
Keep 'em coming, and I'll keep reading.
